I want A favor from some of you who know Ford vans

I went to buy a van today and the guy sold it right out from under me, I drove a hour to get there and my van was sold so before I drive 2 hours to look at another I want some opinions on this van before I truck 100 miles away to see it.

Go to Craigslist Jacksonville FL click on the cars and trucks then punch the search Ford e 250 1996,you should see a van at a dealer for 3999$ with 69,000 miles. He claims it is all original paint inside and out and that is the wear on it.

Tell me if it is worth the ride in your opinon and if it will make a good around town puller and pull a small motorcycle trailer efficiently on the highway for trips!

I would give you a link but I am computer dumb! Thankyou.

Short answer is no.

You can get a nearly new ex rental with 2 years of warranty left for about $15,000.

Why bother with antiques?

Antiques cost less.

I can't get the link, but if it checks out it's worth that. On top of that it's an asking price.

Thanks for the replies and posting the link.the thing I like it is low miles and a 300 6 which is easy to work on and it does not cost 15 grand. that was a poor post by the way! I will except it as a bad opinion and thankyou.

all the other vans I am looking at are newer but have more miles, are the older ones made better? what about the famous ford I beam suspension wear the front tires goofy syndrome is that cured on the mewer ones?

He seems to be pretty firm on price.

i'd offer him 2500.oo and see what he says. after all its bone stock with nothing on the inside. those get hot on the inside in the summer and cold in the winter. he's had it listed since april, 14th and the price keeps dropping.

thanks wizzy,I am bidding on a f 350 turbo 7.3 tonight. I have a feeling for me the simplar the better and a 300 six is way simplar than a 7.3 powerstroke.

That van looks pretty good for a old timer doesn't it?

Nice looking van, but understand, it needs an interior or summers you'll fry and winters will freeze you, insulation is mandatory.

Thanks for the reply but if I bought it I would put a bulk head in front seperating it from the back. I want for light landscaping and to haul my motorcycles.

Real-

Where are you? Your profile doesn't show locale, and we could help you better if we had some geographic idea.

For example, my husband and I just upgraded our camping van. We have a 1996 E250 that we haven't yet put up for sale - with 45K miles, second owners. We're in CA.

So let us know where you are - there may be other connections or recommendations we can make!

What is the refrigerant on that unit? Is it R-12 or R-134.

If it is R-12... you got another headache.

I am in Florida, one good thing about what the illuminati has done to the economy is that there seems to be alot of good deals out there because eveybody is going broke! I just found a E150 down the road that is a 2001 with only 37,000 miles on it for 4 grand and is in great shape but it is a v6.

No V-6, they are terrible engines for the large vans, they blow head gaskets before 100,000 miles, I've seen tons and all have had the gaskets replaced.
