64 4x4 f750

Well i live next to a very rural town of only about 100 people and the local fire depo has what looks to be a 64 form the grill. They just bought some new f550's so it might come up for sale.

I loved this thing ever since i first saw it, my question to you all is how much is that old giant worth? I have not ever seen another 4x4 f750 and especially not a 64ish one. I want to try and buy it from them but i dont want to pay anymore than its worth just incase i need to sell it. And the next time they have it out of the garage i will be sure and snap some pictures.

That would be a stylish mammoth. Big, heavy, and slow though. What its worth is really hard to determine. There's not many others to compare it to.

Low-ball the offer, or just ask "how much?".

I can't figure it's worth a whole lot, compared to other trucks, and if they are getting new ones, that old one might just go out the door as scrap for all you know.

What condition is it in? Shiny like a fire truck usually is? Or rusty and ready to drop?

It is not perfect, but it is ok. No visable rust, faded paint and what not. I remember seeing on the door that it was a donation from the forest service. So it has been used kind of ruff its whole life.

I really hope i end up getting it. I wont even need to lift it, it is about perfect for what i want. It is now just a water tank truck, there wasnt even a pump on the back last time i saw it.

I will keep you all posted, and i am waiting for it to be out on the street again so i can take pictures.

Go get it!! The FD may need to do a sealed bid auction to be legal, but buddy up to them, let them know your dying for it and perhaps they won't advertise it in the paper. Keep quiet about it for less competition for it.
$500 bid/offer could well get you a classic truck. Good luck!!

All F500 and larger trucks with 4WD thru 1970 are aftermarket conversions, usually done by Marmon-Herrington.

1971 was the first year Ford offered factory installed 4WD...in F600's only.

Are you sure this is a 1964 and an F750? Post the VIN, AXLE and TRANS codes, all will be found on the Warranty Plate.

It is plain as day that it is indeed 4wd, it sits so high that you can see the drive line to the front axle with no problem.

The badge says its a f750 maybe f700 i only looked closley the last time it was on the street about a week ago, it looks to have a 64 grill. It is the slick body style. This truck is huge, i wished they would park it on the street more. It is usually in their shop. My 66 2wds cabs highest point is only maybe as tall as the bottom of the window of the f7?0. It has monster tires and monster axles duals in the back 10~12 foot flat bed on the back. They were at least 10 bolt axles, probably more.

It would not surprise me that it probably isn't factory. The forest service donation sticker threw me off, because i have seen a couple other trucks on the internet that were not supposed to exist but they did and the one that sticks out most in my mind was a old forest truck. Gross original green paint and all, if i would have had the money i would have bought it in a heartbeat. 76 4x4 crewcab360 w/ a 4speed, in crummy shape but still thats my dream truck.

So this thing may be frankenstein's monster, but it is a cool one at that.

Hello; I would suggest that you go ask to look at the vehicle and take some pictures, get the pertinant information, etc. In my experience, this is usualy not a problem, nor is it frowned on. You have a legitament interest and reasonable request, should be no problem. PLUS, we're all dieing to see the pictures. OBCB

I didn't say it was a Frankenstein monster. What I did say is...that's it's not genuine Ford.

But...if so ordered, it prolly was sent to Marmon-Herrington by Ford to be converted after it left the assembly line. Ford did this with 1000's of trucks.

I understand you were just pointing out its not genuine ford and thats what made me think it was like the monster, because i doubt the bed is origanial either. Very little on the truck is probably genuine. It has seen 40 some years of hard use.

Thank you all for all the posts and i will keep you updated, and i will be sure to get pictures.

All 500 and larger trucks were sold as a Cab & Chassis (or rarely as an Open Drive-Away).

A Platform (Flatbed) or Platform & Rack (Stakebed) could be factory installed, but most purchasers opted to add these beds after the sale.
