repaint time

I am about to repaint my 51 F1 and want to confirm the original color. I once knew where to check but can't seem to remember. Searches haven't helped. Could someone tell me where to find the code please?

For starters look inside the cab behind the gas tank or on the back side of the door inspection panels if color is unknown . If color is present the choices were few and post pic . Some one will be along and advise you of color .

Certainly, Denny jumped ahead a little! He's so motivated!

Look at the paint color code on the glove box door Rating plate for a letter.

Here is the page that lists the paint codes from the Chassis Parts Manual:

Size: 121.3 KB

Here are the 51 Paint chips:

Name: F1 Color Chart - 51.jpg
Views: 367
Size: 54.1 KB

And the link to Earls World that shows the PPG paint codes for the paint:

Have fun!

PS if you can't find the code, look in all the secret hiding places for some original paint as Denny suggested!

Thanks Julie
My glove box tag does not have the color space. It may have been produced earlier in 1951. I found the color code a couple of years ago somewhere but cannot remember where. Any ideas?

Do you have a tag near the horn relay, on the firewall?

Well, I don't have tonights winning LOTTO numbers!

LOL, I save EVERYTHING! The secret is being organized enough to find it again.

Is it on the PAtent Data Plate? Not sure. You should have one on the firewall as Ross mentioned if you have the older Rating Plate onte glove box door.

There may be a few numbers stamped on the firewall with it as well as was previously mentioned.

But you might just be better off finding a virgin spot up under the dash or under the windshield rubber. It's not like you have a lot of choices (7) and any of them are similar.
