Thanks to FTE 6.0 Contributors.

There is no way to know how many people have been helped by the information on this site --- since a lot of the lurkers read the posts and are never seen again.

Well, this morning, I started up... noted a whistle noise that is gotten a bit louder.

Took it out on highway, and engine seem to be short on power.

Next... a "bang".... and no power.

Pulled over on the side and limped to the gas station, then to the local car parts place.

A quick look confirmed what I already knew ---- CAC hose blown off.

Bought 2 X 3" hose clamps (household grade) and 2 more spares.

Put hose back on, and of course... back on my way with an interruption of maybe 1 hour total.

If it wasn't for the expertise gleamed on this site, or the extensive and exhaustive data maintained in the tech folders and spreadsheets by contributors like Bismic, Maximum4X4, the techs like Cheezit, and just plain knowledgeable people like Texas25?, SteveBicks and Rickart, and many others too numerous to name, I can imagine I would have panicked, called a tow truck, and be stranded until the middle of next week.

So for all of you out there ---

A big thanks!

It is nice of you to post the "thank you" Gearloose1! I feel the same way you do towards MANY people here. I try to be fairly liberal with the rep points as a way to thank them.

Here is one more useful tool ........ I have yet to convince John (Maxium4x4) that it belongs in the Tech Folder:

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 431pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=575 x:str><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 431pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 20320" width=575><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 12.9pt" height=17><TD style="BORDER-BOTTOM: #d4d0c8; BORDER-LEFT: #d4d0c8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: transparent; WIDTH: 431pt; HEIGHT: 12.9pt; BORDER-TOP: #d4d0c8; BORDER-RIGHT: #d4d0c8" class=xl24 height=17 width=575>forddoctorsdts - tool</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

It's nice to see they keep the 8 ball updated with the latest diagnostic evaluations. That keeps me confident in it's accuracy.

I am still waiting for the "reset computers" diagnostics!

Seriously --- to all of you here:

As everyone knows, I have my own approach and way of doing things, which are often (not always!) complementary to the knowledge and expertise on here.

Electronics and software people are just a bit strange...LOL

Thanks to everyone again!

I'll send an e-mail to Keith to see if he'll add it to the 8 ball just for you.

I concur.....I have gleemed "a lot" (thats for you tex!!?? lol), of info here on this site. I actually prefer it over the others.
Even with differences that arise on occasion, I am still very respectful and appreciative of the individuals that take their spare time and contribute here......many thanks !!

After I got back on the road, (with the hose patched up temporarily), a new clamp awaits me at my favorite dealer!

P0299 shows up finally.

So there is a fair delay before the computer register an error (it never registered it while I limped to the hardware store at 5mph.)

I am at a gas station, pulled over to get the code reset.

Guess what?

My $50 code reader also does freeze frame data!

LOL... I will post some pics if people are interested in what I got for my $50 Can/OBDII reader.

Anyways, code reset, hoses checked again for tightness... and I am on my way.

I agree 100 present with gearloose1 It it wasn't for all the Contributors of FTE I wouldn't now anything about my SD. It's my first diesel and for the last 7 months being a member of FTE I learned more about my truck than in the 7 years owning it. Thank You Again All The Techs and Contributors of FTE.

I think I have said this before. I get nothing for my time here. Im nither a sponser nor sponsered in anyway. I for some sick reason dont mind helping people with this stuff. I will also admit I have learned a thing or two here myself.
