Does anyone in Middle TN know of a place to get a rebuilt carb for a tractor? Can they be ordered at say autozone or advance? I inherited my dads old 60s International and I would like to do some fixing up on it. It runs now, some times it runs great but other times it barely runs. when it acts up I have to pull up and down on the throttle and choke just ot keep it from dying. My truck run similar before I changed out the carb. I have looked online and new are at least 250 to 300. I don't want to pay that for carb a little more complex than a lawnmower but less than a car carb. I do think it leaks and has air leaks at times. I have seen the carb kits at tsc and I think they have one for less than 30 but I am not brave enough to try to rebuild one again. I tried rebuilding the one on my 352 in my 66 truck twice and finally gave up and got a rebuilt one.

Search the net for it. There are plenty of people out there doing what you are doing.

 

You can prolly; cross reference the carb number with Napa as well. I've even started goggle'in parts number and found it very helpful recently on even motor mounts etc.

I will check with NAPA for a carb. I have been to yesterdays tractor but I sometimes forget it. I was looking for something local so I could pay with cash and not a credit card. I have tried to get away from cards years ago, I hate the suckers the way they do you . I do have a debit card but I am leary about buying online with it as well. As far as the tractor goes I think if the carb was rebuilt it would solve a lot of my issues. It leaks a little but I can deal with that. But what I don't like is wondering if I can get it back to my barn when it starts acting up in the field. Has anyone rebuilt one and how easy are they to do compared to a 2 bbl 352 FE carb from the 60s?

Not much luck as far as I can tell. I wish I knew more, I would offer to help you with it.

 

Main issue is to get it spotlessly clean inside and out, blow out all the passages in it, clean and free up the linkage parts, and know how to tune all the settings on it.

If you get another carb - you take a chance that it won't be tuned right anyway, and it may also not be quite the right one for your machine.
