I was just wondering about it.

Also read a article about a guy running used trans fluid (filtered a lot) in his 7.3 Excursion. Said he was running up to 90% ATF and 10% diesel with no problems.

I saw a system for filtering WMO and waste transmission fluid for use as a fuel. It's supposed to filter it down to 1 micron, then you can add it to your tank and mix with regular diesel in whatever mix % you want.

I don't see any issues running used ATF as fuel mixed with diesel as long as it's filtered a lot. I probably wouldn't do more than a 50/50 mix of anything with diesel. Not sure if running WMO would work as well.

Don't do it. I have seen pictures of peoples injector tips after running WMO and they were caked with deposits big time! Also as someone who uses WMO to heat our shop the ash left over (granted the oil is NOT filtered) is bad stuff! The furnace has to be cleaned out every year and has very fine ash that I am sure isn't real good on your injectors or piston rings.

ATF is ok in small amounts as is WMO. I would consider 5% a small amount.

used ATF makes good on fires.

Don't do large % of used ATF or WMO.
Yes, you can filter to 1 micron, but the filters won't last long and consider the cost fo the filters and your time and the damage that could be done to your injectors.
Also, you need to change your truck fuel filter every 3k - 5k miles, or at least I would.

If you insist on running WMO, I would do maybe 1 or 2 gallons per tank at most. And is that really worth saving $6 per tank with the risk you're taking?
You cannot run WMO at 80% or 90% successfully. I've had customers who have tried and failed and have expensive repair bills to show for it. Motor Oil is not the same as veggie oil. You can run the motor on 100% WVO, but no where near that on WMO.

I have about 30 gallons of WMO filtered to 2 microns, but never had the guts to burn it.

Thanks Tim, William, and Jim.

I was just curious about it. Definately not worth the risk of damaging my engine.

so far to date I have run 165 gals, 80/20 WMO/KERO. No problems yet. That is a savings of $526.00. Runs better, and quieter. I have no cat or muffler. I get 18 mpg on diesel, 21 mpg on WMO.

I run about the same amount (150 gals) thru my 7.3 IDI every hunting season. I mix it around 50/50 and gravity feed it through a coffee filter. Works good!

The HEUI injectors, like in the Power Stroke, rely on lubrication from the fuel.
There is no lube left in waste motor oil.
Truck might run fine for an IDI, but it's an expensive repair to save a few $$$ in fuel.

BTW, to answer the OP's question as to who is doing this, the one that I have been watching is '88 E-350. He is running about a 50/50 mix in his IDI. I'm curious about this too, but haven't mustered up the guts to try it yet.
