56 F100 chassis/body swap

56 F100 chassis/body swap
i have two 56 f100s. one is a shortbox and one is a long box. both are in pieces right now. it started off as a father/son project but after the 292 motor was redone the project got put on the shelf due to farming. my dad has moved into town now and sold the farm.
what i want to do is swap the shortbed body onto a newer 4wd chassis. im a farm kid. all i ever see is these lowered 56's and i want something different. i have a friend that owns a junkyard that has many types of older 4wd ford pickups that the body's are bad on ( rollovers, etc), but i have no idea what i could swap that 56 body onto. i was originally thinking of an older bronco chassis, but its looks to short. right now im thinking shortbox f150, maybe an 84 stepside? any help with this would be awesome. thanks!
