Which frames are compatible with my '86 F-250 4x4 for a body swap?
My '86 F-250 4x4 needs a new body and i'm a little confused by the differences in frames. There are two F-150 4x4s that are of the 92-96 generation available, will those bodies bolt right up? I also found an F-250 of my generation 2wd, will that one work?
Thanks

Yeah man. I keep going back and forth. I wasn't sure what to do, then i decided to part it out, and then i added up all the money i have invested, plus how hard it is to part it all out, and decided it's just time for a new body.

body swaps are no walk in the park either but if you find a body you like the looks of and interior on you'll have a truck you can finally be real happy to drive.
point is buy the best body not the cheapest, f150's are most likely gonna be your best bet because a lot of them get used like a car
I'd use an 87-91 body as that's the style I like best, but everyone has diferent taste

Look at the frames.
If you haul much weight, even only once in a while I think I would try to find a 250 Heavy Duty frame.
All 250 diesel trucks were considered heavy duty and are built on F 350 frames.
All 250 trucks are not heavy duty though.
Some of the gassers were light duty, much thinner metal in the frame.
150 cab on a 250 or 350 frame, good to go.
But I would shy away from using a 150 frame.
One more thing, the 150 frame will use coil springs for the front axle in both 2 by and 4x4 trucks.
Your 250 4x4 has leaf springs up front.
