Hey havi, that looks like a twin to my '49 F5. I have been toying with the idea of restoring it as a pull truck for my dads old farmall tractors(he thinks I'm crazy) but I think it would be awesome. Anyway do know of any drivetrain upgrades? I'd love to update the front and rear axles to have disc brakes? Any info you mite know would be great and thanks in advance.

I'm all for putting an old tractor on the back of a flatbed on one of these trucks any day. Or a bunch of high school reunion folks in a parade, for that matter. I'm still figuring out drivetrain upgrades that look stock, and the downside is trackwidth from these years compared to new. I got a '76 391FT and Clark 5sp. for swapping into my uncle's F6 until this parts truck came along....so we'll see how it all goes.

I'll be calling the junkyard guy today. Then I can put the steak knives back in the drawer.

I guess I must have missed the earlier notices on this thread but I got one this morning and decided I had to throw in my two cents worth. First off, the wheels are probably locked up due to swelling and rust with the shoes and drums. This is no reason to throw away perfectly good front and rear axles. They are worth more to sell to someone who needs them than to scrap them.

Moving on... I have to admit, I do like your flair for ornamental landscaping. I'd love to have you as a neighbor. Our collections would compliment each other and really P-O my neighbor. In my opinion that would be a win/win situation. Unfortunately, I just cut up my old '53 practice cab the other day. I was through with practice cutting and I wanted to liberate some of the complex curved parts to use for patch panels on my good cab. It was a thing of beauty and a study in rust. Now I have to find something to replace it with because my outside look is all out of balance. Besides, I need something to cover up that bare spot in the back yard.

Are those old heaters worth anything??? If so I have a couple from my '53's that I was considering doing a restore job on and selling. I debated it because I thought maybe the reward was not worth the effort.

Later Folks...

They may be worth something, and I've debated it, but I just have no way to haul around a big 2sp. rear end. All 6 tires peeled right off of the widowmakers when the guy was loading it with his tractor. Knowing Larry, the junkyard owner, he'll stuff the remnants out in the back of his yard for a few years. The guy who delivered to my place dumped it right in my front yard, where the turn around spot is, so the wife is plenty peeved. If I had a way to move the whole truck, I would, and it would sit out in the woods for awhile. Considering the overall circumstances on where this truck was originally headed, I thought I did it some service by sparing it's demise for awhile, and saving all of the goodies.
