hey guys, i was reading threw some post and read soming thing about a 6 liter tune up can anybody give me some info on this and what i would beed. maybe some info on how well this does work. thanks guys
on this other forum there's this member whose screen name is "sixlitre", he came up with the idea to advance the timing on 5.0/5.8s and add some hotter ignition parts to get better throttle response and power....im looking to try it myself sometime
It includes advancing the timing to 14btdc,hotter coil, msd cap, bigger wires and gapping the plugs to 55.There is a lot of info if you search this forum.
hey guys, thanks for the info that was a great write up just what i wanted to know. well i went down to my local parts place and order my 6 liter tune up ill let you guys know when i put it on next Thursday also redoing my whole front end should ride like new again!!
I did my 88 last year and the difference was night and day. I kept the stock coil after reading a lot of problems with the aftermarket ones burning up prematurely and havn't had any issues, never looked back since.
If you do go through with this tune-up could you post your thoughts about power\efficiency increases and what part numbers or brands\products you used?
Did it to my 460 this spring. Replaced cap, rotor and coil with MSD. New Autolite plugs gapped at .053". Taylor 8mm wires and timing to 12BTDC. Truck ran strong before and now throttle response is better. Stronger pulling trailer to. Glad I did it.
