have you changed your ECM ?

would like to ask anyone who has changed their ECM, why did you change it?
after you changed the ECM did your truck run properly?
or after you changed it did you find your problem wasn't the ECM?
if your problem wasn't the ECM did you find what it was?
as you can tell I am thinking of changing mine but would like to hear how that worked out for others?

I had mine changed at the dealer a couple of years ago, the tuner I used fried it and my instrument cluster. The truck ran the same it did before I fried it, have 50,000 on it now and still no problem. I do know that you have to match the numbers on the ECM, I am not completely sure the whole story on it whether it goes by year, engine, trans, or what. Cost me a good amount of money though I can tell you that.

I have not had to change out the ECM, but you will have to get it flashed if you do change it out so it'll run right. They'll retrieve the data from your ECM and transfer it to the new one.
Rarely is the ECM a problem, though. If one retrieves the trouble codes and follows the diagnostic routine for the code per the Powertrain and Emissions manual, you'll find the problem.
