Original tire questions

I'm looking for some information regarding what tires were originally installed on the 1960 F-100 trucks (2wd) from the factory. The original owner (my great grandfather's best friend) circled 7.10 15--6 in the owner's manual, which I presume would have been the correct original tire size. I'm performing a 100% correct restoration on my 1960 F-100 (2wd, Custom Cab, short Styleside bed, 292, 3-spd), to include tires. Can anyone provide information to the following questions?

-Who was the original manufacturer of the OEM tires which were originally installed from the factory on the 2wd F-100 trucks?

-Is the 7.10 15--6 tire correct for my truck, or would it have been equipped with another size?

-Were the original tires blackwall, whitewall, or were both an option?

-I would imagine Coker Tire reproduces the tires. If so, what is the Coker part number?

Denny's right. Coker=Broker.

Shop around for tires. There are plenty of other vendors that sell vintage tires, like Universal Tire, Lucas Tire, etc.

Firestone has been a long time supplier to Ford, as Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone were good friends. They would be as correct as anything, but any number of tires may have come on your truck originally, due to supply and/or delivery issues. If one tire manufacturer couldn't keep up with truck production, Ford wasn't going to wait around for one company to catch up, if Goodyear, General, Seiberling, etc., could help out.

Does your truck have the original 15" rims on it still? If so, and the 7.10x15 size was listed in your owners manual as original equipment, that is as good a guess as any, 50 years later. The "6" after the size would indicate the ply rating, as in '6 ply rating.'

Blackwall tires would have been standard equipment on trucks, but if the original purchaser wanted to be "stylin'", whitewalls could have been installed by the dealer.

Don't confuse Harvey Firestone with Harvey Fierstein.

I believe the OEM tires were Firestones . Good luck in finding the correct size for a decent price .
