Question 460 EFI check engine light

I have a 96 f250 460 EFI from CA. Just moved to Colo.Heater was'nt working,so I installed the correct 195F thermostat (it had a free flowing t-stat,which explained the no-heat)the truck runs great (now the temp guage is in the norm/It was on C all the time)but the check engine light is on, I'm stumped.any info would be appreciated. thanks.

This can only be checked with an OBD-II tester. Your local Auto-Zone can check it for free. I have a tester that cost me 150 buck's. It is the same one that they will use. It actually tells you what is wrong instead of counting beeps. All 96 and newer vehicles used this diagnostics style test.

Well I didn't make It to Autozone but I disconnected the negetive on the battery cable for 2 minutes and It went away.
(got it from a friend) thought I'd pass it on anyway.

What you did by disconnecting the battery, was erasing the ecm
memory. The light may come back if the problem is still there. Eric
