Overfilling an 8.8 differential

That's alright. It won't matter I do it too, I don't know why though...
IF it was extremely overfilled the increased pressure in the housing would cause it to leak from the axle seals or pinion seal, however I think it would be impossible to overfill it that seriously by accident or absent mindedness.

Overfilling an 8.8 differential
I did some back tracking today.When I bought the oil it was in 1quart containers.I put all 4 of them in a clean 1 gallon container so I could pump it it from there.There was about 3/4 of a quart left in the container when I stopped filling the differential.The filler tube I used was so big it just fit in the filler plug hole so it would not let the excess run out when full.After I seen there was a quart left I pulled the tube out and thats when the excess poured out.Iwaited for a small trickle then plugged it.
