Mobil Delvac 15w40 here. I think most guys run 15w40 in their IDI.

I run rotella synthetic in everything I have, including lawnmower (mower is 15 yrs old). Before the synthetic came out I ran Rotella T except in a 3406 Cat I ran Shell Rimula.

Used to get the oil at wal mart but have not found any there in the last few months. They do have Rotella T though.

I get the walmart 15w40, its cheap and seems to work just fine. Everyone is going to have some sort of brand loyalty, go with whatever you like.

I always use rotella 15w 40 with 2 quarts of lucas heavy duty oil stabalizer and the 7.3l powerstroke filter in my idi. Its a little expensive around this part of jersey but we all swear by it around here.

Ford and International specified 30 W for these engines when new. Multigrade oils are thin oils with polymers added to thicken at high temps. Oil lubricates, polymers don't. I run Delo 400 30W

I prefer old engine oil. It is a little thick and can go down a rough at first, but once you warm up - WOW!!

Caution: it can foul your head - so be careful if you drive when using this oil...

Rotella 15w40 usually, but this time I tried Motorcraft 15w40 because it was the same price as Rotella but it came in 5 quart jugs, so it was like getting 2 quarts free.
