morning everyone... welcome to the second half of this sunday April 3rd 2011 (9:25pm).
well yesterday we went out in search of a newer vehicle for my fiancée it was a Kia... but then she found this one...
1998 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport....
well needless to say we tested it out after we bought it... we went to south jersey and put roughly 300 to 350 miles on it... it had 110k already. and not a peep... i (obviously) had to check out its awd system so i went in some lose gravel/sand/dirt/mud/puddles/woods.... and let me tell you i am impressed... this is her enjoying it after all that.

Hello to fellow Ozzies........... would it be cheaper to get a 77 era F350 here in OZ or just import one from the USA?
I would be having someone do alot of work to the firewall and a custom dash made so I just wondered. I know I can get trucks for cheap in USA but just wondered what was cheapest.

A good 77 or so model F350 shouldn't be too hard to find over here. I would imagine there to be many to choose from. If not at the moment, they do appear regularly.
Advantages of a RHD Auzzie sold unit would be many.
- RHD for start.
- Most spares are still available, either new, wrecking yard used, or from parts stores like LMC Trucks or NPD, (National Parts Depot) in the US. Google them.
- Should be able to find one locally so you can check it out. Not like buying blind from the states.
- I picked up a donor 74 F350 for my old girl. Complete, rough, but could have been rebuilt quite easily for $1,000.
- I know they are cheaper in the US. but it'll cost you at least $4,000 to ship one over, plus 10% GST on the combined price and shipping, and then 5% duty on the price of the truck as well.
- For that sort of dough, you can buy a good runner, in good drivable condision, and even close to Road Worthy.
Certainly less hassle than bringing one over from the US.
I must admit though, if you bring one over already "done up" and complete etc., you could save a bit, but you just never kown if what you're spending your hard folding stuff on, is really just a tarted up old dunger.
It would cost you about $800, to ship one from Melb to Brisbane, so even if you found one interstate, you could nearly get a cheap air fair to go check it out, and drive it back like I did, Newcastle to Brisbane, or arrange transport.
Good luck anyway M8. I'm sure the others on this Auzzie forum will keep their eyes open for you if you ask em nice,,,lol
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers, Ron.
Oh yeah, don't be afraid to spend a bit more on a good one, (good body, chassis and drive line, especially). I will be money well spent in the long run.

Thanks.
I am a long way off from my build but I figure best to ask others who have already been down that path.
I will end up shipping a few things over from the states also but if the truck is here then that makes things lighter. .........alittle. LOL
I will be shipping a rearend, engine and other goodies over. But thats way in the future.
