Question Fuel pump

Kinda new to diesles so heres my question. Got a 83 F350 6.9 was hooking up my snow plow and notice a drip got a light and looked like it was coming from what im gonna call a fuel pump. Sits right under the fuel filter. Haven,t had time to really dig into it. But somthing is diffenetly leaking diesle fuel. Its not the filter. Any thoughts? How much do one of these pumps cost if needs replacing.

Fuel pump

Is this the part you are referring to:

If it is, that is the fuel heater. It is integral with the fuel line there.

If that is not the part then never mind.

Fuel pump

There are several pumps on the 6.9/7.3 litre engines
Lift pump = located on the passenger front area of the engine, similar to a gasoline engine and operates off the camshaft. this pump pulls the fuel from the tank to the injection pump = located on the top center part of the engine, right behind the oil fill spout. this pump supplies the pressurized fuel to the nozzles (injectors). the filter on the older 6.9 engines was located on the firewall, driver side and also was a water separator. Sometimes after pulling the ring on top to drain the water out, it will not quite reseat itself properly, you may have to turn the ring as you let it seat.
The lift pump will leak at the weep hole and the injection pump will leak at the weep hole which is between mounting flange and the main body of the pump (kind of hard area to reach, can only get your pinky finger in there).
The late model 6.9 and 7.3 will have the filter housing mounted on the passenger side valve cover front area and may be leaking at a connection (there are rubber o'rings to seal the connection) or from the filter cannister itself. The filter is pressurized about 5 to 7 lbs from the lift pump.
Perhaps you could describe the area a little better or read the above. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Fuel pump

Ok It is the lift pump its on the right front of the motor right under the fuel filter has a pulley on the front of it. It is not leaking at the filter as the top of the filter is clean and shows no sign of diesle fuel.

Sorry dude, the lift pump does not have pulley on it. It is operated by a lobe on the cam shaft, just like a gasser, however, you are in the general vacinity of the lift pump.
It seems you have leak higher up than the lift pump and it is running down to the vacuum pump which is the thingie that has the pulley on it.

Fuel pump

Yep Yep After looking into it a little I see the pully isn,t part of the lift pump. Just took a quick look before. But I'm a thinking my lift pump just sh@# the bed (hoping that is all it is) heres my reasoning. Went to plow wifes grandparents driveway on way home truck just died while rowling down the road cranked for maybe 15 seconds fired back up. On my way home I go by my mom and dads clean the end of there driveway out where snow plow filled it in.Truck died again.(distance traveled around 5or6 miles) after a little cranking started back up (of course couldn't just leave without say high and by to mom and dad LOL left truck running maybe 3 minutes) got 1/4 mile down the road(I only live 1/2 mlie away from parents) truck died and won't start no fuel coming out of schrader valve. At first I thought I ran out of fuel seeing how my fuel gage doesn"t work. Put 5(US) gallons in it filled the fuel filter still nothing. So seeing that the lift pump was already leaking I'm hoping.......
