Unhappy 460?

ok i got problem maybe not though ok i bought a f100 with 460 in it ran good with only 2000 miles on rebuild just the motor was green lol so i pulled it and painted it ford blue and new gasket my ? is beford i took it out the oil pressure was about 40 when warmed up at idle i put a new gauge in and now its runin when warmed up about 10-15 psi idk if thats ok or not or do i need to look for something eles thats wrong?

Hmm...what type of gauge was in it originally (factory or aftermarket? mechanical or electrical?) and with what type of gauge did you replace it? It's not impossible for the factory-style sending unit to be FUBAR, and if you replaced a factory electrical gauge with an aftermarket mechanical gauge, the latter is more likely to be accurate.

FWIW, 10-15 PSI hot at idle, while not outstanding, is adequate. A long-standing rule of thumb is that you want to see 10 PSI on the pressure gauge for every 1000 RPM.

Sounds like either the 1st or 2nd gauge is bad since that's the only thing that changed. Take it to someone who has a good mechanical gauge to see which one is right.
