OT: Mass destruction in Oklahoma last night

I don't normally post ot, but I just wanted to share about the weather here in Oklahoma. There were over 20 tornado touchdowns yesterday evening. There is major destruction and last report is 5 deceased. I feel very fortunate since there was a tornado to the Northwest, Northeast, and south of where my family lives. The closest one would have been about 2 miles from us. One tornado crossed Interstate 40 at the Choctaw Road exit. This detroyed a Love's Country Store, Anderson's Truck Stop, and a Sonic. There was also a fairly large housing addition in this vicinity that sustained a sizeable amount of damage. Thanks for letting me share.

We are located in central Oklahoma. Most all of the damage starts east of OKC and goes to the Oklahoma/Arkansas border.

Thanks Neal. It is a sad thing when people pass, especially due to something like this. there are three news stations, KFOR Home Page for Oklahoma's NewsChannel 4 KFOR-HD News, Weather, Sports and much more for Oklahoma and Oklahoma City. - KFOR, www.newsok.com, Oklahoma City News, Oklahoma News, Weather & Sports, Channel 5 News - KOCO Oklahoma City's Channel 5. They all have coverage of the devistation.

Wow, that's a bad one.
I thought tornados didn't really happen until summer.

We were sure watching the weather and hoping everything would go north of us. We were lucky and just had some high winds,

Well, it appears that there was one tornado yesterday, but here we go again with the possibilty of several this evening. The only difference is they are on the west side of the state. Hey Grady, they are talking about Sayre right now. Is that close to Alva?

Glad you guys are safe, sorry to hear about lives lost, terrible. I was in Lee's Summit, Mo. back in 89 I believe when one tore thru, scary stuff, the Toy's Are Us guard had me get in his guard shack till it passed. He told me it wasn't safe to be in my rig.

Dave Sayre is on the the I40 corridor right by the state line. Alva is 20mi south of KS and about 60 north of me. I hope the wind changes to out of the north friday then switches back out of the south sun for my haul to TX.

Hey Mason, how did it go last night for you? That was a pretty major storm right up in your neck of the woods. Gary England and the storm spotters were on it and kept talking about tornado on the ground, but I think it was east of you. BTW, we camped at Canton Lake last year, pretty nice. Are they done with the bypass by the dam?

Mike, the good news from the bad, they have changed the death toll to 2 from the Monday outbreak. I know people have seen the devastation left behind, as I have seen it several times, but each time I see it in person it is very humbling. There are so many people that have lost everything. I was driving home yesterday down one of the roads where a tornado swept through, and would see random stuff that mother nature did. for example, a bathtub on the side of the road, just sitting there. I know it must've fallen from the sky. Strange.
