Front Wheel Bearing assembly

I've a 2002 Ford F 250 superduty with a 5.4 v8, 4x4 crew cab.

I was 2hrs away from home when my front right wheel bearing went KaBoom. 1000$ later and a new front right wheel bearing assembly and brakes, I figured I need to replace the left wheel bearing assembly, however, the shop did not have access to a second wheel bearing assembly in a timely manner. I would have had them do the other side, but I needed to get home

So I've a few questions regarding the front wheel bearing assembly. I found a ton on ebay for less than 1/2 the price of less schwab. Ebay has many in the price range of 100-200. Less Schwab charged me 375$ for one I've done wheel bearings in the past, but never for the locking hubs for a 4x4 truck. The tech @ LS showed me a basic overview of how to do it and it seems pretty straight foward.

My main question is, DO I NEED TO PACK THE BEARINGS? from teh service manual, it does not reference the need to pack the front hub bearing assembly, but only to grease the axel.

Thanks for the help, you guyz Rock!

Main bearing is sealed so you can't really grease that one. The inner needle bearing that rides around the axle stub shaft can be greased. I usually use my finger and squeeze as much grease into it as I can.

A very good portion of this write-up will tell you exactly what you need to do.

On my 2000 F250 SD 4x4 v-10 SRW
The needle bearings are part #
Ford C6tz-3123-A
Napa B2110

I just replaced my drivers side Needle Bearing because I was replacing Ball Joints and had the hub pulled out.

I will be replacing a bad pass side Hub-Bearing assembly and Ball Joints next week.

I also replaced the tie-rod ends while I was under her.

New tires and an alignment after that. Hopefully get another 100k before I have to spend serious moneys.

329,000 and only relatively minor problems to date.
