Look carefully at the screen capture kpj5br posted on the first page. No sign of a diff on the front axle and from looking closely at those front wheels, there ar regular dust caps and no 4x4 hub sticking out.

It burned down I wonder insurance or pure accident who knows I guess. That movie changed the way people up north about country music and life to I think. I wouldn't mind having something similar to buds truck worth a try every cowboy has a dream lol
I don't know about Ford, but back in '79 my mom and dad's best friends bought a brand new '79 GMC 2wd short box with the factory "wagon wheels" and trim rings and a factory supplied matching painted steel roll bar in the bed. That was a beautiful truck, tan with all the GMC chrome options, pw, pdl, a/c, everything. Wish I could find that one again. It would go well with my Explorer.

Those trucks are hard to lift I just don't get why they have him driving a 2wd drive truck. I'm sure Ford had a say that's why it had the chrome package and roll bar. The way it see it look 4wd I do not see it bring a 2wd. Your right about the differntial though. Could I get the chrome package on the truck from lmc and where do I find a roll bar like that?

Look around the salvage yards if you want original.
As far as the chrome package, avoid the one from LMC. I purchased a couple of their chrome pieces and they were really thin. I did purchase new drip rail mouldings from Dennis Carpenter and they were so flimsy, we bent the crap out of them trying to install...I actually went back with my original ones.
I do have the D.C. new dent side mouldings for mine and they were good quality, I can attest to that one.

Around the 3:20s in the video, there's another great looking Ford following his truck. You can see it through the rear window.

For the chrome package you can pick it up at a show for next to nothing or aftermarket. If you do aftermarket chrome trim I would reccommend Dennis Carpenter because it says they use the origonal molds and I have heard good comments about the chrome. As for the wheels I see those all the time at the shows for the 5-lug. The rollbar will probably be the hardest to find. I would reccommend looking around on www.Craigslook.com . Good luck with the project.
