Super/turbo charging a 300 with factory MAF?

Is it possible to super or turbo a 300 using the factory fuel injection system and computer? My truck is a 96 so it has MAF instead of speed density.
With bigger injectors, maybe a piggy back chip, head work, and maybe a bigger mass air sensor could the computer read and perform like normal?
Thanks

It's possible to spend all kinds of time and money. One who actually has done it:

Hey Joe, is it possible for you to check the part number off your computer in your truck and post it here : https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...r-the-obs.html ? If you could that would be greatly appreciated to those of us who would like to swap our 4.9 trucks to mass air.

Thanks,
Justin

No.
It is a DIY project.
A centrifugal supercharger is easier to install than a positive displacement supercharger.

Yes, You can use the stock EFI intake and throttle body.
You would need larger injectors.
It would be best with an aftermarket system that used a wide band O2 sensor.

How much of a power increase are you looking for?

About 100 HP
Would 19 lbs fuel injectors be enough?
What about map sensor?
I've never done something like this.
I'm a machinist that started machining at engine rebuild shops. I've done stock engine swaps and mild modifications, but have never installed a super charger.
Thanks for your help.

Stock EFI 4.9 produces around 150 hp so if you want to add another 100 you are looking at 250 hp.
Brake specific fuel consumption (B.S.F.C) which is How much fuel you are using per horsepower per hour is about 0.5 or less for a naturally aspirated engine but a forced induction engine runs with a richer air/fuel ratio so we use at least a 0.6 (B.S.F.C.)
Injector size = horse power x B.S.F.C.divided by the number of injectors x max injector duty cycle.
Max injector duty cycle should be around 75% to 80% so we'll use 80%.
250 x .6 / 6 x .8 = 31.25 lbs/hr minimum.
So something around 32 lbs/hr.

You will need a 2 BAR map sensor which will sense up to 15 lbs of boost.

A centrifugal supercharger makes boost proportional to rpm so max power is at max rpm which for a 4.9 six should be near 5000 rpm.
The problem is a stock EFI 4.9 makes peak torque at 2000 rpm and peak power under 3500 rpm meaning the volumetric efficiency falls off quickly after 3000 rpm and would be working against the supercharger to get cylinder fill above 3000 rpm.
A different camshaft profile would be needed for sure and headwork would also go a long way to make horsepower without having to run a lot of boost.

A Vortech or Procharger supercharger cost a fair amount so be sure you want to make that kind of investment.
