2009 F250 Lariot 4x4 (gas) Panic Alarm Issue

Hi All,

I purchased a new 2009 F250 last summer and it has had incessant problems since with the panic alarm going off at sporadic times. It has been to the dealer twice and had a third service scheduled. The issue is that the panic alarm goes off at random times when the doors are locked. The vehicle can be in any place, driveway, mall parking lot, fifth floor of a parking deck, in the middle of a national forest...you name it, the alarm will go off...but at a random time. Temperature, humidity, garage door openers, key fobs...none of those have any affect on the issue. I have removed all batteries, key fobs, garage door openers, etc. from the vehicle and that has made no difference. The dealer has consulted Ford Tech Support and they have replaced the hood switch and bracket (first trip to the dealer) and overlaid a wire bypassing a particular circuit (second trip to the dealer). The last scheduled service for the issue I was planning on leaving the truck for several days, but the service department did not realize I needed a loaner vehicle...not sure why they did not realize I would need a vehicle while I left my truck there for an extended period , but they said they would call me when they had a loaner available. This is my third Ford pickup, but I must say it might be my last. Since the issue cannot be reproduced on demand, they have to keep it for several days until it actually happens at the dealer. The issue is recorded by the onboard computer, but they have to actually catch it 'in the act' before they can isolate the issue. Initially, I was extremely happy with the truck, now I have become more than disgruntled (I just had to press the panic button to squash the alarm as it sounded in my driveway). Moving forward, I will be documenting everything in accordance with Lemon Law provisions. I really hope they can isolate the issue before this escalates any further. The vehicle just passed the 10,000 mile mark...very sad this type of issue cannot be resolved quickly.

I have the exact same problem with my 2010 250 xlt. have you resolved this issue yet? I would like to connect my horn again without annoying my neighbors at 3am. i refuse to bring it to the dealer for fear i will be out of a truck multiple times, for multiple days while they try and hunt down the demon.

Upon the third or fourth time to the dealer, they involved Ford Tech Support to help them with the issue. The resolution was to cut a wire in the harness and reroute another wire. I found this to be very strange...but it worked and nothing was disabled in the system. I'd recommend having the dealership to address the issue before the warranty expires if possible. Yes, it was a PITA; however, I didn't want to attempt any homegrown approaches. Hope this helps!
