if my memory serves my right there is 3 different idm's correct? 100,110 and 120 or soemthing along those lines. all 3 will work and the 120 is the best due to the increased voltage for a power increase right? and the 110's came in the vans or something didnt they?

ok going shopping for him really wishing i hadnt dumped all my stuff now.

IIRC there are only 2 different IDM's... 110 and 120. Try to find one out of a late Super Duty, they are the 120v. You can mod either of them to 140v if you wanted.

The OBS's had the 110's
And I recall reading something about a 100V IDM also, but I cannot remember to take out the trash some days.

Yes. the OBS trucks had 100v and 110v. The SD had 120v. Any IDM from 94-03 will bolt into our trucks. And yes the more voltage the better.

about to lose my cool with my dad....between the spotty cell service in the middle of BFE and trying discuss parts over the phone...to the unfunctioning snap on scan tool i am about to go down to his house and fix the thing myself.

little recap on the situation.

replaced the cps. replaced the gpr.
still has funky WTS light tendencies and is not clicking on.

the truck one day acted normal though. he decided to give er a go before work. hopped in and it started right up and hasnt since then.
i'm at a loss for words here and dont know what else it could be.

he did mess with the fuel pump a while back and replaced it and during this process botched up the ipr wiring somehow. when he got the truck all back together the truck wouldnt run after the fuel pump. ended up finding the messed up wiring to ipr and then it ran fine up until about two weeks ago when i made the first post.

he did yesterday pull the fuel bowl lid to find it empty.......swears up and down the tank has fuel....im thinking not but oh well

so i had him switch tanks. i dont know guys im about ready to fly down or drive down and look it over myself unless anyone here can tell me something i have forgotten or dont know.

had him pull the wiring harnesses off the idm and pcm to look em over and its all good there.

words of wisdom please

thanks again

Holy hell, Ryan how the hell are you. I was actually thinkin' about calling you today. I guess my ears were burning. Okay, the first thing that comes to mind with the WTS light. Is the fuel bowl heater broken and touching the bowl? The only thing that I know of that will trip out that light is the fuel heater.

Now, you said the IPR wiring was jacked......I would say there is your answer. He may have fixed the IPR wires, but the heater and all that stuff run together under the fuel bowl. Maybe he missed something.

Dry fuel bowl is bad. I don't have to tell you how to remedy that.

But no smoke during start, you know means no fuel. But I would dig into that harness on the bowl first before I'd go swapping out IDM's and PCM's.

Also, what about the basics, valve cover connectors? UVC's?

I don't know, for me, I'd go straight after that fuel bowl harness. If that heater control wire has burned somewhere you are not looking, that's your killer. Cuz you know if that fuel bowl heater puck comes off and shorts out, it turns the truck off like the key.

thats the thing.....when he was doing the fuel pump he told me about the heater. it was only hanging on by a contact or two. i told him then(2-3 months ago) about the ramifications of leaving it like this. he still installed it. well when all this went down he pulled the lid and guess what???? it was completely broken off but no burnt fuse 22. i had him disconnect the wire anyway and still yet its acting up. i still cant get over the wts light and this ipr wiring that i have no idea what he has done or looks like. maybe i will have him check out the wiring behind the ipr connection point a little that may hold our answer. he did check out the fix he made to it right around the time it started up again so maybe there is a short. ill let you know..

thanks cody and send me a pm when you have a vid or some pics of that beast in action i would love to see it...it would look better in blue though J/K
