Trick Flow Heads On 351-svt/svo??
I HAVE A 93 LIGHTNING AND I JUST PURCHASED TRICK FLOW TWISTED WEDGE HEADS. IN THE INSTRUCTIONS IT SAYS IF I HAVE A 351W SVO BLOCK I WILL NEED TO DRILL HOLES IN THE BLOCK DECK TO PREVENT STEAM BUILDUP IN THE UPPER PART OF THE BLOCK. IS THE 93 LIGHTNING A SVO BLOCK OR IS IT AN SVT BLOCK? HAS ANYONE INSTALLED THESE AND HAD TO DRILL THESE HOLES IN A 1RST GENERATION LIGHTNING? THANK JEFF MOON

jeff you should be ok. the late model blocks whether they are the 5.0/5.8 match up as far as the steam holes. now that said the earlier 302/351w blocks need to be drilled for the steam escape. when you buy new head gaskets follow trick flows recommendation and lay the gasket down on the deck surface and check for corresponding holes. the block used in the lightning trucks are the same as other truck application 351's. the svo version is cast for the racing crowd and can be found with either the windsor or cleveland main journal. ps make sure you have your head rest adjusted properly, you'll need them!
