Oil Cooler Pics

Steve,
If you have to do any of this work just let me know and I can supervise.
I know you would have been here given the opportunity. Next time it will be your truck. See you Sunday.
Both the coolant and oil enter the rear and exit the front. I'll post a pic with the o-rings on.
The weather has been excellent. 76 yesterday and probably hit 80 today.

Quite interesting. I have always wondered how that worked exactly. I imagined the tube as a heat exchanger where the oil entered from one end, ran through some tubes and came back out on the same end as it started. From the photos, it looks like it may work differently. Does the oil run through the tubes and exit out the other end directly into the side of the block?
You must have great spring weather up there in Payson because you have been a busy bee lately. Lots of great pics....

Thanks Mike.
Didn't have time to finish the oil cooler R&R today. Got a late start after having breakfast with some other vets and a friend is cooking me dinner tonight. I just got the mess cleaned up and quit early. Now it's off to the shower.
I have taken some good pics and although it's been done before I'm thinking of doing an oil cooler R&R write-up with a little more detail and pics.

Edit : Maybe you missed my injector cup R&R thread. LINK
Wasn't much but when something doesn't look right, it just isn't right. Oil scum in the degas bottle was the clincher. Couldn't really see it until I drained the coolant and the bottle was empty. Caught it early.

Thanks Guys.
I will post some pics of the old one.
Yes Roland. Oil cooler R&R today. When changing the water pump I noticed a sheen of something floating on the drained coolant. Then I checked the de-gas bottle and it had a film of oil on the sides. When I was at the dealership parts counter my friend BJ, the parts guy, told me he had an oil cooler he was wanting to get out of inventory. It was ordered and never picked up. He let me buy it for half list price as well as the gaskets and o-rings. In the last couple of weeks I have put in new rockers & pedestals, push rods, injector cups, injectors and water pump. Might as well put in a new oil cooler as well.

Hey Robin what other signs to look for if oil cooler needs to be replace besides sheen in coolant degas bottle? If its not leaking externaly then it should be left alone? Plan on engine swap later.

Coolant in the oil. I had an oil analysis that showed traces of sufur and potassium. Most likely cause was coolant in the oil. Finding oil in the coolant was the clincher.
