what are high miles for the 2006 and up
im looking to buy used and looking at the gasser v8 and v10 crew cabs and wondering what is to high of miles for these motors most in my price range are between 80,000 and up im scared to go any higher then 130,000 just because most of the cars ive owned started to have alot of problems after that

High mileage is only to the buyer. I bought my truck with 167,000 miles on it. My dad 2000 v-10 has almost 285,000 trouble free miles on it. And my wifes 98 expedition has 165,000 on the 5.4. I would find one you like and go over it very well. The engine should last no problem as long as it was taken care of. Just check the whole truck over. The newer engines last a lot longer then they used to. The Trition motors have proven them selfs quite reliable. Got is the old saying its nearing 100,000 miles I should dump it. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

Firefighter is right though, the engine can last a LONG time. But other stuff like the alternator, power steering, starter, batteries, and everything else will still break regardless of mileage.

The old rule of "12-15k miles per year" can still be useful, but it's more how the miles are put on than how many miles there are. As stated earlier, engines today are a different breed than engines from just 10-15 years ago. Maintenance schedules, synthetics, build quality, etc make for much longer running engines today. I wouldn't look over an 06 gasser with 130k on it as long as the truck is in good condition. People who take care of their trucks usually take care of everything on their trucks. If the truck is a basket case, look elsewhere. If it's clean and in good condition all around, might be a nice truck for you.

most the time it has been lifters timing chains or transmission problems ... i will tend to fix the problem if its not gonna cost me over 500 to fix..of course most the vehicles i have owned have been around the 15 year old mark.. i guess what i really want to know is can the motor take the abuse of someone that doesn't know how to do routine maintenance
