You added a 3rd trans cooler? I have never heard of having 3 of them.

What do you mean turn on the hazards to unlock to TC? I know if you slightly press the brake pedal until the brake lights come on the TC unlocks. The hazards has nothing to do with that as far as I know.

hazards unlock the T/C the same way the brake lights do for some reason. I checked the trans filter last night and it's in correctly.

Just commenting, I had no issues with TC shudder when I had my speedo issues. When my issues got really bad though, when the needle would bounce from 5-80 MPH, the trans did do weird things, like downshift, not know when to shift, etc.

texasguy you got me thinking about having enough fluid pressure for the radiator, 3 coolers and an inline filter so i bypassed them all and test drove it. Now i get very little shudder and speedo bounce but once the trans temp guage hit 170 degrees it didn't want to shift just like when all of my problems started. I think the valves are dirty and start sticking when they get warm. I have a feeling it might be from clutch material so i'm taking it to the tranny shop.
Thanks to all for the help I really appreciate it. I have learned more from reading threads on this site than any other.

To keep the temp down a little hook back up the trans cooler that came on the truck. See how that does.

hooked the largest cooler up today and added a quart of lucas treatment. Took it for about a 5 mile drive and it still shudders, the speedo still bounces at 52mph and the temp went to 220. Took my foot of the brake at a light and it rolled back then wouldn't move till around 2500rpm. Smelled like burnning clutch when I got home.

I would not have put the Lucas in it. Maybe one of the trans cooler lines is clogged.

Just quit then hard shifting

OK guy's i was driving home tonight at hyw speed with the cruise on and my truck felt like it quit, lost power. Lost cruise, i turned off the radio and the cruise and the truck felt heavy but still running. When I got to town it started shifting really hard from first to second. I pulled all the fuses, checked and put them back. Checked fluid and it was fine. Went for a test drive and everything was OK. What was that all about???? 4yrs. ago my son was adjusting the power mirror and blew a fuse, the tranny did the same thing but no fuse blown this time.

Brakes maybe?

well my trans guy says my problem is probly the notorious T/C failure since it's a PS so $1700 if he pulls it $1200 if i do.
To much torque and not enough tranny i guess.

My issue was the needle bouncing about 5-10 mph when I got up to about 65-70. I road tested it today, held 65 for about a mile, and the speedo's reading nice and smooth. So, apparently either the Motorcraft sensor is the only one that will work reliably, or my NAPA replacement that I had installed previously was defective.

Both sensors looked the same, except of course the part numbers that were stamped in them. I measured their length with a digital caliper, and they both measured within .005 of each other. I did notice, however, that the center magnet part of the Motorcraft sensor was sunken down, maybe .010" from the outer part of the sensor. Not sure if this is what makes the difference or not.

The Motorcraft part I bought was part number F85DZ-9E731-AB. I bought it at Fast Parts Network - Home
I tried to locate the motorcraft part and got this message at the Fast Part Link, Part number F85DZ-9E731-AB was not found. Is the number wrong?

call your ford dealer and get a current part number for the replacement part. The part number you are looking for probably got superceeded by a new part number....
