I couldn't seem to find any plain tall covers for the 460,,, improvise! A quick finishing and these should look pretty good I think.

Cool! Now you've got a clean slate to have 460cid etched into the cover!

What now?
How do you plan to finish them - do you plan to powdercoat them, paint them, clear them or ???

Nope, just the plain aluminum. Finish as in a quick sand/buff..

Mark63Uni,
Obviously it's your call and you can do as you please, however, unless you live in the desert, you know that if you leave your aluminum rocker arm covers in a raw, unprotected state, the bare metal surface will react to humidity / moisture & oxidation, which in a short period of time will begin to cause your covers to develop a white, spotty, mold-like appearance. That will be the aluminum oxide forming on the surface of the bare aluminum metal. But you could always just pull them off and give them another quick sand and buffing, as that will clean them up again.....

If they were mine, and I wanted them to look natural, then I'd degrease them and spray them with two lights coats of aluminum engine paint, then two coats of hi-temp clear. The clear is intended to reduce the likelihood of fuel and oil from staining the aluminum painted surface. But that's just me.....

The company that makes Por 15 also makes a product that you could use on bare aluminum and it is like a clear coat but I am not sure on the heat rating of it.

GLISTEN PC-POR-15 Inc.

Thanks for the heads up fellas, I didn't think they'd really oxidize that much.. good to know. I'm just thinking about aluminum rims and such, they don't have a clear on them do they.. then again a buddy of mine just had his polished for the 3rd time. hmm I don't want to paint them or powder coat them, I have an aluminum air filter cover so I want them to match. The filter doesnt look like it has a coating on it of any kind. And the new intake is aluminum.. does that stuff come with a coating of some kind?

Since we're on the topic, another buddy of mine built a rat truck, and built a brand new engine for it. He used some sort of acid to corrod all the parts to look old and crappy haha... I'm not really going for that though.
