question about steering shafts

anyone out there got a 57-60 they have put a steering shaft in, if so what length did you go with. from what i measure its lookin alot like i need a 30 or 32 inch for my application but its hard to get an accurate feel with a tape measure. i can only have about 3 inches poking outside of the firwall to get my linkages all hooked up right (a lil less might be ok but not any more). doubt theres to many out ther running the crown vic front end but it may be about the same as a MII
