Pass inspection?

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have any insight into exactly what will and won't pass the MA safety inspection when it comes to rust?

I recently got my '77 F250 running and am working on the tires right now, after that I'm just gonna do a good tune up, change all the fluids and it'll be time to see what it'll need to pass. I do have holes in the floor behind the seat so I know that'll have to be done but the entire cab is pretty rusty. Frame is fine. Anyone know any inspection shops with "bad vision"?

Pretty much any hole into the passenger compartment gets flagged, although I've never seen anyone actually crawl under the truck. Not sure about the rust over the wheel wells - I'll find that out tonight, actually.

Back in the day, we would just put duct tape on the inside of the cab where the rust was, then spray the underside w/undercoating, to get through inspection. Just sayin.

Thanks guys, inspection is still a long way off for the beast but the undercoating idea might actually work!

Rot over the wheel wells is fine..

My son's 77 F250 failed due to rust in the cab corners.. He had some new sheet metal ones that we just painted then attached it to the truck with sheet metal screws..

Looks good from a distance and it was enough to pass..

Make sure all your lights work including the back up lights.. We had to fudge that one also..

I can confirm that one - forgot to post. I have the rusty hips obligatory on all 80s trucks, but they didn't call it. I have no rust on the cab, so I didn't get to test that rule.

i filled my wheel wells with great stuff, scraped of the high spots and painted it a bit. just taped carboard over the holes and stuck the tube behind the tape and in between carboard making sure to fill enough to make a large brick between inner and outers. also large voids in front lower fenders and a few lower rear spots rebuilt with same substance.. passed safety no probs 5 bucks or so. leave cardboard on for at least 3 days so it cures well and compact, makes it harder.
I need a new power brake booster to get rid of the hiss in the cab causing it to run lean.. wish i had a 95 sometimes, no emissions then. 1 frekin year
