2006 5.4 intake problem?

engine lites been on for a while, finally took the f-150 back to dealer. Said it coded a bad secondary door on the intake (poor mans turbo?) well I really try to avoid $800.00 repairs while I'm still making payments but after a lil go around told the dealer go ahead and fix it even though the problem was very intermittant. I thought I was looking to replace another injector which I've also had to do ($400.00) Well drove home and to work sat and the light comes on again. Ugg I can only guess it happened again or they misread the code and it is an injector. Anyone else had something similar?

Can't say for sure. But what I can tell is that a lot of techs shortcut diagnozing the problem and replace the most common or the first thing listed under the diagnostic guides. It's usually a money thing but could also be lack of experience. Most techs are paid by the flat rate hour and the more they can get out the door the more they earn. It doesn't necessarily lead to the correct diagnosis of the problem. That sometimes takes more time and effort than they may want to put into a job and may result in less income for them in the short term. My guess is that the problem was either misdiagnosed or the repair improperly made. I would take it back to where you had the work done and insist on a loaner vehicle until it is repaired right.

Took it back in to be coded again and they say the intake is bad again after 11 miles. Asked the service writer if it was going to take 3 days again. He said yes and flat out refused a loaner. " We haven"t had loaners in years". Interesting enough while waiting for the truck to be coded I wondered around to look at another FX4 and the only one was some beasted out $48000.00 monster which was beautiful but I don"t want it. Aww gee how bout something for $38000.00? Not a single one to look at. This is a pretty large dealer too. This is more than frustrating!

if you paid for an injector you should check around. i was told that fords 5.4 has an extended warranty for leaking injectors (10yr or 120k) so if that was the reason for the change you should try to get a refund. and if you had to pay for the intake issue and take it back after 11 miles you need to go to the stealer i mean dealer and ask for ford corp number and tell them your story and ask why the dealer is not working WITH you to fix this problem and what did you just pay for! they will rape you if you let them

Ha Ha 1bad I can tell you've been there too. I did call Ford on the injector and they agreed to refund my cost of the parts which they did after paying the dealer in full. Im currently asking Ford to pay this latest repair (I've already paid a little over $700.00) because its part of the emissions. My warrenty clearly states Air induction system is warrented for I believe 80000 mi. They'll call me back today and I'm not expecting good news.

I would also push Ford corporate to push the dealer for a loaner since they didn't fix it right the first time. Most dealers don't do loaners any longer because they push renting you a vehicle for more $ in their coffers. I wouldn't hesitate to go over the service writer's head all the way to the owner of the stealership if I had to. I would very firm but polite in my demands.
