Not rare. Just not as popular as the F1s. F2s are 3/4 tons and have bigger wheel well openings in the front fenders, longer bed and different rear fenders and running boards when compared to the F1. The wheelbase is also longer than the F1.

Also, bed parts for the longer "8 Ft Express Bed" that is on the F2+ are not reproduced so finding bed parts is much more difficlut than the F1's with their "6 1/2 Ft Pick-up Bed." The F2 + pickups are not as graceful looking as the F1s because of what Ilya described.

Paint Code "N" is Vermillion -a Blood Red Color.

Now ya did it, Julie !! Not as graceful? If you want graceful, buy a car!!! If you want a truck, buy a real truck. Seems us 3/4 ton owners need to be giving this man some answers in addition to the half ton owners.

Ok, now I feel better. Julie knows I'm just giving her trouble.

So yes, what they've each said is correct. Not as popular. And not as easy to find good bed parts, rear fenders, running boards, tail gates, and front fenders for. And you can't pick up the phone and built the whole blasted truck out of a catalog. The point being that to build a good 3/4 ton also builds character in the builder. And in my case, my Marmon Herringtons are building a lot a character in me.

Julie's point about finding donor trucks is right on target. It's easier than finding good pieces individually. Also, you are fortunate you didn't fall in love with an F-3. You'd have wheel issues to deal with too if you had.

So, welcome to the family. Stu

One of the few I don't have a paint code for is 'N'. Can you look under the kick panels, under the dash, or back around the gas tank and find any patches of original color?

Close as I could come would be paint code M which was post-50 for meadow green.

btw: I don't think they're rare - I have a 52 F2.

I was gonna suggest that Julie's little half ton wears ballet slippers, but I won't suggest that because it'd been cruel. Oh, I guess I just suggested it!

Both the Jan. '52 and Jan. '54 Chassis Manuals say that Meadow Green is M, and Vermillion is N. BUT, the Cars and Parts Magazine Catalog of Ford Truck ID Numbers 1946 to 1972 has it the other way around. So, I'd go by the truck like mtflat said. Stu

Cars and Parts Mag Catalog has some errors as pointed out by numberdummy.

The bottom third of slim's truck is weathered meadow green.

Great looking truck slim!

Ken anything is possible, including mis-stamping the color code.

1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog sez the same thing.

1952 F2 production figures:

7 1/2 ft. Platform (Flat Bed): 28

Chassis & Windshield: 233

Chassis & Cowl: 276

7 1/2' Platform & Rack (Stake Bed): 785

Cab & Chassis: 1,121

8' Express Pickup: 15,136.

HEY! GUYS, PAINT CODE "N" is VERMILLION (on post #3 )

Both the Jan. '52 and Jan. '54 Chassis Manuals say that Meadow Green is M, and Vermillion is N. So does the 48-56 Chassis Parts Illustrations Catalog. BUT, the Cars and Parts Magazine Catalog of Ford Truck ID Numbers 1946 to 1972 has it the other way around. Not sure about the accuracy of that source. Vermillion was paint code letter "N 51-53; and "R" in 1954 (last year). Meadow Green in 51-52 was paint code letter "M"; 53 was "R" and 54-59 was "U". Maybe the 53/54 "R" swap is what confused them. So, I'd go by the truck like mtflat said. Stu
Man are you in rare form today Mr. Stu......

Ballet Slippers? Yeah, my 395 hp "slippers." Gonna make me post that picture again huh?

This Vermillion Red was color matched from a clean, nonfaded panel on the inside back of the cab behind the gas tank . A Vermillion has just a tint of orange in it at low light .Looks best at dusk . The local paint supplier mixed some more of this last fri. and I was able to see just what went into it . Base red ,quite a bit of orange ,small amounts of another red , black ,white and a very small amount of violet . It is so close to the original color one can hardly stand it . Painted the wheels for the stock truck sat . They look great .
This was the original color of the truck .
