My door ajar light is on and the interior lights stay on. I have checked all the doors on my 2003 F250 4 Door Crew cab,,, nothing. Any ideas. I don't even see the sensors on the doors
there is no switch ON the door it is in the door.It is either in the door latch or on the latch.Try spraying some WD-40 into the latch and work it some by shuting and closing the door.I f not you will have to get into the door.
Thanks,, I tried the WD 40 and nothing yet,, so I will let it sit overnight and spray it again in the morning. I will try the WD a few times, that is a lot easier than taking 4 doors apart..
My right rear door does that. I spray the silicone spray inside the door latch and open and close the door. I do this 3 to 4 times spray open/close door and It cures the problem.
How hard is it to get the door panel off,,, and based upon what I have read I should start with the doors least used. So how hard are the rear door panels to remove. Is there a better trouble shooting method.
I'd give the WD40 another try...it took a full weekend to get mine to go out.....and that was in 2002...never been back on again......used a full can of WD40! But that was on ALL the doors.
My 1999 350 has caused me grief since around 2003. I did the lubricate thing and all fails eventually. You're going to have to pull the interior skins off the doors and replace the latch. PERIOD!. Orrrr remove the relay in the fuse box to stop the chattering of the chime and live without an interior light. Another typical ford headache my friend.
I don't drive mine to much so I just removed the relay. One of these days I'll fix it. As far as lubing the latches, it is a temporary fix. It will come back. Trust me.
Thanks to all for the ideas. I did the WD40 three times, then before giving up, I looked at the rod that goes inside the door panel. As you can imagine it was wet with WD40, so I took a air compressor, blew off the excess wd. I noticed under the plastic some bright metal, maybe aluminum. I cleaned the small pinhole spots off completely on all doors...Problem is gone.
WD or Air both are about the cheapest fixes I have found.
