Question Transmission Mount

Since my shop manual did not provide any details, I would like to get some info on what's involved with changing-out the transmission mount (Ford P/N 21A-6068) on my 55 (6 cyl). It is the rubber/metal U-shaped piece and I think all I need to do is slightly raise the transmission with a jack and remove/replace the mount. I would appreciate it if someone could provide additional guidance. Thanks!

21A-6068 does not fit a 1955 anything. What it does fit:

1942/48 Passenger Car I-6 & V8 // 1942/47 Commercial (1/2 ton) I-6 & V8 // 1948/52 I-6 & V8.

1953/56's use two upper and two lower right/left rear engine (transmission) rubber insulators (mounts).

2) COTT-6A061-A .. Lower Rear Engine Mount Insulator

2) TAAA-6068-A .. Upper Rear Engine Mount Insulator

Bill, my bad. I got that number from the Carpenter's online catalog and when I crawled back under and took another glance, the parts you cited were the ones that I probably should replace in the near future. The fellow that was installing my new exhaust pointed them out and said he could replace them for about $150. Seems to appear that that is something I could do myself. Hopefully I can get these locally at my NAPA store and save a few bucks in shipping costs. Thanks. Steve
