i am looking to trade my 2005 f-150 on a 1997 f-350 7.3 auto.it has 319000 miles on it. i know these motors last a long time but how long?what should i look for? and what would start going bad soon? i need a reliable truck to pull a camper and put alot of miles on but i dont want to get a truck i have to put alot of money in to.

chances are with 300k+ miles all original its close to needing a rebuild but if it has been taken care of like little to no rust clean well maintained it should last another 100 or so thousand miles

it may blow up when u start it the first time or it may run forever

There's a shop in my area with a PSD they use as a delivery / parts chaser, with over 600,000 on the ticker. At the risk of sounding cliche, it really all does depend on the truck's history.

You could probably just sell your 05 F150 and use the money to buy a nicer 94-97 F350 with 200k or less miles. The going rate on ebay these days seems to be around 8k and i would assume your 05 is worth a lot more than that.

to all,

a local (plumber) friend of mine has a small fleet of 7.3 trucks. he says that he ROUTINELY is getting about 400K out of the engines, before having major problems.

yours, TN46
