don't get a chip. prior to 1996 & OBD-II, you had to chip your PCM to get performance goodies for your EFI vehicle.
1997+ vehicles use the OBD-II system and handheld programmers to change the PCM parameters.
most performance chips are nothing but a resistor in some fancy packaging. the resistor changes the voltage from the IAT to the PCM. This tells the PCM the motor/air charge is still cold and the motor dumps more gas to heat things up.
Get an Edge/Gryphon/SCT/Diablo. They are all reputable companies.

1996 was the cut-off year for OBD-II. starting in 1996 all vehicles are/were federally mandated to run OBD-II...just like all 2007+ vehicles must now have the tire pressure crap (TPMS)
prior to that, most companies used the OBD-I system. The higher end cars had OBD-II though since they usually had more complex fuel managment systems and OBD-I sucks some major behind.
Yeah, I had a buddy running a F-350 diesel who had one of those Superchip chips. Those things are legit. But if you roam around eBay, you'll see a bunch of sellers with "Performance Chips"...and they aren't the same
