Michelin LTX MS/2 are the only street tires I know of that are worth anything off pavement.

 

i ain't from texas, but my wife lived there for about ten years. i know you guys don't ever really get snow, but that's what i use to convince people to move up to at least mt's. i pull people out of ditches all winter long. i usually come along after someone has tried to yank on some car with street tires for a while with no progress. i put it in 1st gear in high range and walk them out. makes people feel dumb. i'm not saying you need swampers, but you need something with some ***** and tread voids or you will just sit and spin.
