Rear Quarter Glass

Ok guys, I can use some help, Please? I have been lurking on this board for quite a while following the issues of the brakes and oil consumption for the Excursion. Even with all the issues, I really love my Excursion.

I am trying to repair the left rear quarter glass so that it will actually seal and work with the motor. My dog broke it when someone was teasing him while it was parked.

The actuator motor is easy to find and not that expensive. However, there is a piece that screws onto the stud that is bonded to the quarter glass and that peice is destroyed, I need to find a new one. I have been to several Ford dealers and they all tell me that I will have to purchase a new quarter glass for $750.00 just to get that $1.00 part.

Does anyone know where I might find this thing? I have tried finding a wreched Ex at the junkyards and the pick and pulls with no luck!

Any help that anyone can give me would be appreciated.

Had some issue after a generator rolled into the quarter glass and busted that ball off window

After calling around about the quarter glass I come to the same situation you are in.

Solution was a baseball thru the quarter glass and a ins claim being filled. Not the most eithical way, but after never filing a claim in six yrs, I thought it was time to use ins.

Just a thought.

You may want to check out Eagle Auto Dismantling in Lakeside, CA (near San Diego).

(619) 443-7300
12650 1/2 Highway 67
Lakeside, CA 92040

I recall them advertising in Craigslist San Diego and they had an Ex for parts. You can tell them what you're looking for and they may be able to ship it out to you for a fee.

Thanks Guys

I will check out the place in Lakeside. As for the insurance route, I don't want to go there as I have to file a claim for my mustang that some idiot hit in a parking lot and wasn't nice enough to leave information.

I will post back if I find a source.

No Joy

jh818, thanks for the leads but, I called them and the darned thing has stationary quarter glass.

I am gonna keep trying though. As stable as the Ex is, there has to be an idiot somewhere that will be able to total one. Trust me, living in California I have seen people roll their cars at less than 10 mph.

You're welcome, Sparksone42. I know what you mean about here in Calif. I've never seen so many cars rolled over upside until I moved out here in S. Calif. Where in CA are you?

You may want to also check to see if an Expedition have the same part you're looking for. If it is, then this would broaden your search and give you more possibility of locating one.

Good luck.
