Thumbs up 98 5.4L Tune Up

I'm about to hit 200k in about a week or two. Changing the spark plugs today (last change @ 100k).

She seems like she is much more weaker than she was a few years ago. I've noticed that while I'm in cruise control she is down shifting to 3rd gear a lot on the highway when going up slight hills... which she never did before. Anyone know why this is happening?

What are the major maintenance items that could do to boost her a little bit other than spark plugs? I've changed the fuel filter. Cleaned the air filter. New PCV valve. Do the injectors need to be cleaned? Could I do this myself or professionally?

Any other thoughts?

Be careful removing plugs

I have a 98 that had the spark plug blow out while driving. A mechanic said they used a 5 thread spark plug in a 4 thread head. The fifth thread carbons up and can damage the head when removing. He said he does a through decarbon before he pulls the plugs. I bought mine with 52000 miles so I don't think the plugs were even changed but goggle searching after I had the problem came up with what appeared to be quite a few similar problems also from improper tightening. No problems since and now with 140000 miles.

Finished the spark plugs yesterday with no issues. Had to use crazy extensions and unviersal joints. Took about 5 hours.
