Is it the CV Joint or what?

This past winter I bought an 04 Expy EB. While changing my oil the other day I was inspecting the front driveline and noticed where some grease was spraying from the flange just to the inside of the Rt inner CV joint. It is the flange that bolts together the CV joint to the shaft coming out of the front diff. Is this a common problem, how do you fix it and would this contribute to a sound like an uneven tire wear? Any info would be appreciated. Thanx, fitzy67.

You could try repacking that CV joint and install a split replacement boot. Your other option is to replace that entire axle.

Thanks for the response Allaro
It doesn't leak from the boot itself but from the flange where it joins into the front differential. Is this related to the CV joint or is it something else?

The flange has no grease in it. On one side you have differential fluid and on the other side you have grease inside the CV boot. Since you're getting grease, there it has to be getting slung out of the CV boot.

From your description it seems like it may be a seal leaking gear lube, a small leak will look like a lot on the flange. If it's not repaired it will develope into a drip on your driveway.
It shouldn't be too hard to fix or a good shop might do the repair fairly inexpensively.

leaking from front Rt axle housing

Well. I checked under the car to see exactly where the leak is coming from and it is coming from the end of the axle housing just to the inside of the inner rt CV joint flange. It looks to be a seal. So how do I fix this and at what expense? thanks fitzy67. PS I checked the diff lube level and it is good.
