rear window trim removal

rear window trim removal

the trim piece around my rear window is faded like most trucks(unless they looked like this from the factory) so i want to take it off and paint it. how do i get it off?

Remove the interior trim around the window, remove the nuts that hold the window assembly in place. Window assembly come out toward the back of the truck, be sure you have a roll of butyl handy to reseal.
Might be easier just to tape and mask.

speaking of resealing, something leaks with high pressure water anyway....

took it through the auto carwash the other day to remove the massive amounts of mud(ima bad boy) and everytime it sprayed the to of the truck it would start leaking inside.

many of the windows have a flaw in the seal at the top, drivers side, about a foot from the corner. as mentioned, take the head liner loose and back wall off and take the nuts off the studs. push window backward into bed and have your buddy catch it. you can get a new seal for $10 at Auto Zone... there are two rows of studs and nuts on the back wall, one row for the window, one row for the trim.

mines in both corners about a foot from the corner. sweet. ill do it this weekend...

also, what socket thingy do i use to take out the seats? its like a huge torx head.

you can buy the seat socket at Auto Zone... i think its a T47 or T50.
