I used Charlie's write up when I did my 3pt belts and it worked out great. I will say though that with the headliner already removed, I was able to reach my big paws behind the corner piece from the top and just hold it in place to rivet it.

I have a 74 F-100 that I want to put 3 point belts in, I am hoping it is a similar set up to get them in the truck. Right now its at the shop getting the motor finished up. What kind of belts did you use? I see a set from LMC for $200 for both, but I want to make sure I am getting the best set for the money, not just cost wise but safety wise too, my son will be riding in it and I want everything as strong as possible.

 

I dug up this old thread while searching for help installing seat belts in my '61. I was hoping to find out what 3 point belts you started with. Also, it was stated that the floor mounting position had to be correct and I was hoping for photos of the bottom mounts.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank y'all for the thread. I installed 3 lap belts in my 64 after I purchased it because I did not think there was a 3 point option. I will put the the 3 point seat belts at the top of my upgrade list.

 

The belts I used are Autoloc.

I see from an earlier post in this thread that I'm suppose to post pics of the lower mounting points. I'll try to remember to do that. At best, these pics will be for reference. Different seats may require different anchor positioning so don't assume that you need to put yours in the exact same spot as mine. The same goes for the 3rd point, if you're taller, it will need to be higher in that panel.

 

I would be interested in photos of the mounting points. I haven't purchased the belts yet but I have been looking online and checked out Wesco Performance. You can order mounting kits with their 3 point belts with a mounting plate that looks a lot like the one in the tutorial.

Charlie, I followed your instructions about a year ago and the install worked perfectly on my 66 F250. It was a little tighter on the driver side floor because of the fuel line, but it all worked perfectly. We have luckily not had to test them, but it gives me a great sense of peace when I drive. My 66 Mustang has only lap belts and I'm always afraid I'll be tossed through the window. I think I picked up my belts from LMC but I saw the same ones at a local speed shop (So-Cal). I found that the lap portion of the belt (the female end) is a tiny bit too long, but it still works well

 

For the part going into the cab corner, Is the purpose of the rivots just to hold the reinforcement plate in while the bolt is screwed in? Or is it also there for any structural help?

Just there to hold the plate in place. To weak for structural support.
