Start drinking water now. It will hit 100 in June and the humidity and warm sun might take you some getting used to.

Can't help with the neighborhoods, but the truck is easy. You'll need your registration, proof of insurance, and a Texas address to register it here. Then you'll need to pass an annual safety inspection for things like lights, horn, brakes, etc. If you've got a gas motor they'll shove a sniffer up your tailpipe. If you've got a diesel, they don't.

BiggDaddyT,

You will like Texas way more than Maryland. My sister and brother-in-law just moved to San Antonio this week. I've been in Salado for 9 months now.

My truck was easy to register, but my RV took extra time because I had to have it weighed. I also have a trailer and it had to be weighed. All in all, it was easier but slightly more expensive than other states I've lived in.

Welcome to Texas!!!

Timothy

I don't remember what my registration costs, however there are days that I wonder how much extra money I would have without the first born

Registration is less than $100, is that good enough?

Don't forget there is a one time fee for moving a vehicle to the state. It's about $100 IIRC. At least it's only a one time fee.
