05 escape hybrid idle jumping help

I have a 05 escape hybrid with 75k on it. there is a slight problem every once in a while when it starts the idle jumps up and down and when it is put in reverse it has no power to move. you have to put the pedal to the floor....there are no codes and ford has had the car for a total of three weeks, nothing found and of course it did not act up for them..any idea??
thanks

Are the two problems occuring at the same time or do they both come and go intermittently? How much does the idle jump by? When you say no power in reverse and you have to floor it - is this on flat, level ground or on any kind of incline?

How long have you had the car? What has the dealer done for tests? Have they reflashed the computer?

More information might point us in the right direction.........

it all happens at the same time.. when you start it day, night, first time or five times during the day it starts then the rpms jump up and down. up to about 2500 then when put in reverse on a flat surface it will only back up if you put the pedal to the floor..no power. it has happened in foward to.
it has done this about six times in the last six months. ford did not flash the computer they were hoping it was going to ack up while it was there but never did..thanks

does the hybrid have the IAC.Valve on them? The searching for idle and no codes is what my v6 model did when the valve went bad.

I've never heard of any of the hybrids having this particular problem but I have heard of some things being resolved simply by disconnecting the 12v battery for a time to reset the computer. There are also several relays under the hood that have been known to give owners fits and have been tough to diagnose even by the dealer.

Have you posted (or just searched) on Green Hybrid? There are some pretty knowledgeable people on that site that may be able to help you. Just beware of the trolls.

We'll it has done it again. This time the yellow triangle light came on and the rpm screen said to stop safely now. Car shut off and moving shifter to drive or reverse would do nothing. Turned it off then started it again and drove it straight to ford dealer but again did not act up for them. They had it for five days. It does not store a code.
