The VIN has too many digits (12), it should have 11. Eliminate the zero, it doesn't belong there.

F25 = F250 2WD

C = 292 2V

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.

404057 = 1963, assembled April 1963.

122" Wheelbase.

M = Corinthian White

F250 2WD / 7400 lbs. GVWR

81B = Custom Cab.

F = Borg Warner T-98 4 Speed Manual Transmission.

24 = Dana 60 / 4.56-1 / non Limited Slip / 5200 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.

7400 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

135 net HP @ 3800 RPM

75 = Phoenix AZ Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

btw: The AM radio and the bezel is from a 1962/63 Fairlane. The A/C is aftermarket. The Holley carb & air cleaner (mebbe the entire engine) is from a 1961/64 C Series Tilt Cab or F700.

Sad to say, that isn't a 1957 Ford/T-Bird carb & 4V manifold.

Dunno, but it's nothin' special, all the trucks using this bed have the same feature.

B7D9927701A .. Left Quarter Panel-includes wheelhouse.

Fits: 1957/60 F100/350 118" wheelbase / 1961/63 F100/250 120" & 122" wheelbase / 1964/66 F100/250 120" wheelbase.

Bill,

If the engine has been changed out would it still be a 292?

BTW.... both headlights have a fomoco emblem right in the center? original maybe?

one last question, the tool box would have been put in after the fact. Correct?

Prolly, and if it's from an F700 and etc, it's a 292 Heavy Duty w/sodium valves.

Original and desireable...even if they don't work.

Most likely, prolly by a dealer, but...it is Gen-U-Ine Ford, and was originally an option on 1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD short bed Stylesides.
What does the headlamp emblem look like, Ford in an oval? If so...is it etched into the glass, or a transfer?

Or is it F O R D in raised block letters? Block letters were used 1956/59, Ford in an oval 1960 thru circa 1968.

Whatever they are, they are VERY desirable, haven't been available since the late 1960's.

Ford in an oval: They're the same as: 1965/68 Mustang's, Cobra's, GT350's & GT500's, plus other 1960 and later FoMoCo vehicles w/single headlamps.

If they have F O R D in block letters, some 1956/57 T-Bird nut will pay big bucks for them.

btw: I edited in (so what else is new?) the bed info in post #3.

Good info...why I didn't remember that, I haven't a clue.

The in bed tire bracket was an option.

So was the spare tire...and the wheel!
