Lightbulb S-Side tail light ideas (opinions wanted)

I want to something different for my tail lights. I was thinking about 2 lights per side instead of just one. Another idea is putting the turn signal where the dot in the picture is. I'm not sure I like the idea of the extra light for the turn signal. If I decide to go with just the 4 lights when I use the turn signal should the bottom one flash, the top one flash, or both? I intend on all 4 being tail/brake lights. Any imput other than leave it stock would be great. I was going to leave it stock but the bed is rotten and will need work so I decided to go ahead and modify it. Below is a pic I made real quick in paint to give you an idea.

I'd suggest looking for a donor taillight that is closer in shape (elongated tear drop with flattened top and bottom) to the flat area. There is really no visual relationship between the round light(s) and the area they are located in, so they look like a stuck on afterthought no matter how many there are.

I get what you are saying but I was looking forward to being able to use 4" clear LED semi trailer lights. I think that would look good. Maybe you could post a picture of the style tail light you are talking about? I even made this but it seems like way too much!

But imagine 4" clear LED lights on a dark metallic purple truck with a chrome bumper. Then you will get the look I'm trying to go for. If I went with the 3 light set up one would light up amber for a signal (don't know which one) but when they were off it would be a clear/chrome look on all 3.

These are the lights I plan to use I can get them in amber or red led so the only way you would know which one is red and which is amber is to see them light up.

I personally like the 4 light idea. The 6 light idea is a little too much for the back of that truck. Maybe it would look better with the standard chrome rear bumper? (the one that dips down for the license plate) I have trouble looking past that ugly bumper. I would love to see pictures of other tail light ideas. I want them to be clear with led bulbs at least. I just copied the factory light because it was easy and quick to get the picture posted.

here's a quick photochop:

I'm sure I could likely find something even better to use with sufficient research. If you want to use the LEDs, just make a clear lens to fit and put the leds in the bucket.

That's decent but I have a 76 with those same tail lights. I would like to do something a little different. I'm sure there are some really cool tail lights out there that ive never seen. I might have to go check out e-bay and see what tail lights come up.

Also look at vehicles on the street for ideas. If you find a set you like and know the year/make/model, www.car-parts.com is a good source to find them.

I will. I have all summer to figure it out. I need to get my 76 done first. I should have that out of the garage in the next week or two at the most. Then begins the work on the 60. I found a nice set on ebay but they only come with a red lens and I think with a dark purple paint job clear is going to look better than red.

I like the 4, but if you go that way you may look into adjusting the location, with two of them it seems like they're up a little too high. Just like an inch or so... the height from the top light to the divot in the metal should be a little more (1.5x) than the space between the two lights.

Might also look into some of those newer Cadillac lights, they're recessed a bit in this picture, but it gives you an idea.

I like Caddy tail lights but they are the number 1 tail light that most people use when building a truck. I want to have something a little different without going too crazy. If I wanted to go crazy I would buy flush mount tail lights that you can paint over and you have no idea there are even tail lights on the truck until they light up from under the paint. That is so cool but a bit past my budget. I would have 2 or 3k in just tail lights. Caddy lights are always a good idea but if I can be different I will.

I forgot to remove the body line under the tail light and they are not very straight.

I was thinking something like this

I know that its a bad picture and the lights on the left don't match the ones on the right but It was a quick thing I did in paint. That is a picture of my truck from around 7:30pm today.

Those lights are more like 5 or 6 inch too but I needed them to cover the original light. I will use 4 inch lights.
