Tire size qustion for the 2wd xl

Hi-
I'm finally getting rid of the crappy Conti's that came on the truck and looking for some Michelins. The only ones that come in the 225/70-15's
are the good ol' LTX's which I've used for a long time on other trucks.
I recently put a set of LTX M/S 2's on our Denali and it is an improvement in ride quality and it has a very long warranty.

In order to go to the LTX M/S 2's I would have to go up to a 235/75-15.

Is that OK with the stock steel rims or should I just get the stock size?

Thanks.

What is your rear axle ratio? Going to a larger diameter tire may adversely affect the pulling power of the 2.3 engine.

should not be a problem as you are looking at less than 1/4 inch I would say overall. I went from the stock tiny 14 inchers to 235-70 15 when I went to aftermarket wheels. Have a 3:08 gear ratio and still have plenty of power get good milage. Just have to refigure the odometer and speedo. depending on year you might be able to get the computer reset at a dealer. I tried to replace the nylon gear in the trans but it made the error worse, so now I know at 65 iam doing 70 and I add 4 miles /100 when I refuel for milage. No big deal overall. Do a search I forget which company will tell you the dimensions of the tires by size but 235 vs 225 is what 10mm and 75 vs 70 is negligible for size. If I find the site for the dimensions I post it, but any tire shop can tell ya what the differences are from their books.

You missed it again as a 225/70/15 is around 27.4" new. Eddie, they should fit the rim without too much trouble. Especially if you have the later model with 7" rims. You are going to lose some on takeoff and your speedometer will read a little slow. Probably only a couple of mph at 60.
