2011 owners read. transmission s/w issues?

So after putting almost 400 miles on my truck ive noticed that on occassion on normal driving I will get a rough upshift.

Ive also noticed that at full throttle a nice smooth shift at 3000-3200rpm keeps the power full on without much of even a feel of a shift. On occassion I have noticed in first it will actualy hit the rev limiter for a second before shifting than it gives that rough upshift.

Im just wondering if anybody with one has noticed any of this yet. Im hoping maybe its just a breaking in issue but with past experences I would think this is a TCM software bug. Being its a brand new tranny and software I wouldnt rule this out.

Full throttle starts are normal driving? Isn't there something in the owners manual about an engine break in period?

hmmm very similiar to what I went thru in my 08 at 600 miles...bad tcm is what I had.

But since this is a completely different tranny, and under warranty I would take it in and see. Keep us posted.

Not until mine thru the check eng light on were they able to really diagnos it.

My '05 Ram 2500HD and now my '10 F250 does that on occasion. I just concluded that it's the "learning" PCM responding to the different driving styles I take on throughout the day. I could be wrong but that's what I think it is. I wish we didn't have a PCM trying to figure us out. A straight program would be fine. You might try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and let it reset to it's default profile. I bet if you eased around town a few days like a geezer it would smooth out. Just the same, my '10 F250's transmission program is waaayyy better than the Dodge's transmission program. It was ornery as can be and frustrating when going from city driving to highway towing.

The transmission is still learning and had no time to adjust to your driving style.

Give it another 1000 miles.

If you reset your computers, the learning process starts again, typically with much stiffer shifts.

I know about break in periods and the rough shift at normal throttle. But at full throttle what is weird is how the truck will actualy ride the rev limiter for a second or 2.

Hearing about the learning computer thing i totaly agree with it. My 06 mustang Gt I dont think had that feature and it would always shift perfectly from day 1. My previous truck a 08 sierra denali, it would always have transmission shifting issues that were software related. Atleast so far this one seems alot better than that.

I personaly wouldnt reset the computer unless I need too on this one. Its taken this much time to get from 11mpg city to around 15.5mpg. Dont know if its all because of break-in but I would immagine some is the computer adjusting fuel air mixes, etc.

It does not learn anyone's driving style. What it learns is how long it takes a shift to complete from when the TCM commands the shift until the TCM reads the speed sensors have reported the ratio change is done.
