Looking at 1950-1955 F100, need information

I am interesting in possibly purchasing a 1950-1955 F100 Ford truck. I do not know much about them though. I would like to find an unrestored low mile survivor. I am looking for information on rarity, value, options, engines. I would also like to know the pros and cons of owning one, what to look out for as far as problems with them. This would be a pleasure vehicle, possibly something to put in a local show, but more than anything a piece of Americana. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Well, I'll be the first to welcome you to FTE!!...wonderful folks here with a ton of information to share..also, I'm a reasonably new user, as well, and I suggest that you read the "stickies" and the "newbie" thread to help answer some of the most common questions, b/4 posting threads on specific topics...also, go into your control panel, and add your city/state so we know where you live..sometimes, we discover we're right around the corner from one another!!...as for my experience, my 55 F250 flatbed (my avatar in the upper left corner) looked pretty much like what you see when I bought it...I'm keeping it stock, despite the fact that it's drivability is like a farm truck, which it was...I bought mine because of it's extensive local history in our town...some people are not too keen on the flatbed look; I think it's different and funky...to each his own!!...I also know that I can't join a cruise to No. California with a truck that goes 50 MPH...so there are trade-offs...I'll leave it at that for now, and let others give you their two cents worth...

Hi and welcome to FTE!

These is a link for a good start:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-look-for.html

If you have any specific areas of concern, engine types, cab styles and upgradres, capacity, parts availability, etc. maybe that would help narrow down the info we can post. There's just so much of it here!
